2017 Mille Lacs County Fair

Visitors to the "1917 - The County Enters WWI" were greeted by a life-size image of local doughboy Harold Chapman.  A collection of World War I military artifacts on loan from the Minnesota Military Museum anchored the exhibit, with related local artifacts and photos expanding on the US's entry into the conflict.  Food conservation, prohibition, Red Cross activities and a display about the 1917 re-survey of parts of the county broadened the exhibit's scope, and milking equipment once again helped young people understand how cream becomes butter.
